What's up with subway congestion?

I wait an eternity for a subway train. It is just me, subway station grime, and the sound of crickets chirping around me. I lean over the platform and look to the left...

Nothing

I wait ten minutes, lean over the plaform again to see if the train is coming...

Nothing

By now, it is me, the lady with the screaming brat who is too old to be sitting in a goddamned stroller, and the guy with the...

Feeding the Fatties

I sit on the subway and the kid across from me is under eight years old and clearly obese. Why is his mother handing him a bag of Doritos and holding the can of Coke for him to sip, because he has a chocolate bar in one hand and a Game Boy in the other?

Do parents not notice that their kids are fat? Can't they hear them breathign heavy because they are so heavy? Is it that hard to raise a kid that doesn't graze in the candy aisle?
