Despite the politics surrounding the naming, this new plaza is fantastic. The stone-work is of a high quality, the ground lights are cool (we'll see how long they all stay functioning) and the london plane tree in northwest corner is already 20+ft tall.
In fact all of downtown's newly-opened parks/plazas are looking good: - The small planted fountain/seating area behind Liberty Plaza. - The new plaza around the Holocaust Musuem - The revamped park at Gateway Plaza - The Wall Street streetscape - The Wall Street park - The 7WTC plaza - The spectacular Teardrop Park |

What was this building located on the site before? It looks like it was demolished at the time of construction of One Liberty Plaza.
![]() Looks like there are not enough floors for it to be the City Investors Building: ![]() http://www.nyc-architecture.com/GON/GON011.htm |

Temple St cut through what is now the plaza from Cedar to Liberty.

Zucotti is adjacent to U.S. Reality. The buildings in these photos were on the site in your photo and City Investing and Singer were north of the plaza.
![]() The 2-story building in your pic looks similar to the base of the one across from USReality above. Maybe it was taken as the building was being demolished and that was all that was left. |

Still a dramatic space; though that's probably mostly be due to its location....
I especially love it when the lit up halal food cart parks at the tops of the steps, adding a nice NY touch. |

Last year.
Wonder if the recession will reduce attendance. |

I walked by this plaza/park yesterday. They are pulling up all the paving stone. Anyone know why? The lights embedded in the plaza worked for about a week. It was very rare to see them all illuminated after that.
Anyone know the deal on this? |
